dad bods and pretty girls

In the article, “Dadbod: A New Word For a Timeless Physique” written by Spencer Kornhaber, I believe the thesis/main idea is the very first sentence stating, “Is “dadbod” a hashtag joke or a social-sexual movement”? The whole article explains both sides of a so called “dadbod”. A theory that “men with dadbods and doughier tummy areas are good at sex” and dad bods make them “better at cuddling” supports the social sexual movement. However, knowing all about TotalFratMove.com makes me lean towards the dadbod being a hashtag joke. TFM is a site for all the frat bros to relate to all the drunken pictures and jokes they know. So if TFM penned an ode to dadbods then that makes me believe its just a joke. But after reading the whole article i believe it’s however you interpret it. If you're attracted to a beer gut then have at it. While dadbods rise, pretty dies. In the article, “The Death of Pretty” written by Pat Archbold the main idea/thesis is found in the author’s definition of “pretty”. “And that the combination of beauty and innocence is what i define as pretty”. She explains her reasoning by comparing the 50’s top celebrities to today’s. In the 50’s the “stars” wanted to be pretty, of course, but also have this innocent reputation and look to them. Today our celebrities just to want be hot and have big asses. In this article the author pushes for pretty girls to be every girls goal. But just like with dadbods, it’s how you interpret what’s attractive. If you like being pretty and innocent then so be it.

  1. I completely agree. All of this is just a matter of how you interpret things. A woman can be "hot" and "pretty" at the same time its all a matter of what that word means to you. And for someone to think the dadbod is a social movement across the country that people strive for is a bit absurd in my opinion. Everyone wants to be as attractive as they possibly can be in their own eyes and many have different ideas on what that is and whatever that may be then so be it. what one finds pretty or attractive in a man or women is all perspective based i think to call these social movements like these articles do is a bit far fetched in my mind.
