The Death of Pretty/ What is a Dadbod?
In the article The Death of Pretty by Pat Archbold, the thesis statement is,”
Pretty, pretty is dying”. The article first starts talking about what the
definition of pretty is, which is an equal balanced of projected innocence and
beauty. Back in the days many women wanted to project beauty and innocence to
the public, this brought out the best characteristics in men which were to
protect this beauty and innocence. The “woman” of today are not the same as the
ones in the past, they rather be described as being hot. Hotness value is
temporary, unlike prettiness. Nowadays, woman would prefer to be called hot
but, but most men would prefer a pretty woman. The society we live in today no
longer values being innocence. The next article is named Dadbod: A New Word for a Timeless Physique by Spencer Kornhaber.
The thesis statement of this article is, “Is dadbod a hashtag joke or a
social-sexual movement?” The article explains what a dadbod is by using a quote
by Mackenzie Pearson, she explains that a dadbod is someone that occasionally
works out but continues to eat however they want…which causes a little stomach.
Even though the term “dadbod” is new, the idea of having one isn’t. Pop-culture
promotes woman to be body cautious, while men should rock a little flab. The
tables have turned when woman start saying the pros of a guy having a “dadbod”,
there’s multiple outrageous characteristics that women have associated with “dadbods”.
One of the characteristics were that men with “dadbods” were better at sex,
this characteristic shows how some women started talking about men like they’re
sexual objects much like how some men do to woman. Most men do not find the term “dadbod”
as being offensive, some of them actually praise the term.

I agree that "The society we live in today no longer vales being innocence". Woman want that short commodity that hot brings instead of the good positive attention pretty brings.
ReplyDeleteWhen you said woman are talking about the dadbod the way men talk about woman is right. Men will look at a woman with a "perfect" body and assume she is probably better in bed then another female. Some women don't like it when men do that and with this dadbod thing we are doing the same thing. I think in society we should keep opinions about body image to ourselves instead of announcing to the world the guy with the dadbod is good in the sack.
