Death of Pretty and Dadbod

In the article “The Death of Pretty” Pat Archbold defines being pretty is beauty and innocence and that being hot is “consumable”. What he was basically saying is that if a woman is innocent then men will want to protect her but if she’s hot then men will just want to use her. Just because a woman dresses a certain way that categorizes her as “hot”, doesn’t mean that she doesn’t deserve the same respect as a “pretty” woman. The way a woman dresses shouldn’t define is she’s innocent or not and it’s honestly no one’s business if she is or not. Men should stop assuming that the way we dress is for them because most of the time it’s not. Women dress the way they do because they want to express themselves and be confident in their own body, whether they dress to be “pretty” or “hot”.

The article “Dadbod: A New Word for a Timeless Physique” by Spencer Kornhaber was really interesting. I’ve seen the term “Dadbod” on social media before but I never really paid attention or looked into it. I think the term “Dadbod” is a form of body positivity for men with these types of bodies. Kornhaber says that “a lot of men feel liberated” by this term. This is a great way for men to feel good in their bodies and not ashamed because they don’t have a six pack. Just how women are starting to feel more confident in their bodies, it’s also great that men should start feeling the same way.
