Society Now a Days (Dadbod and The Death of Pretty)

The Dadbod
This article explained to me that for some odd reason people seem to have grown fond of this so called, dadbod. I feel like maybe because its being claimed as a trend, a bunch of lazy, “good looking” guys could easily be jumping on the bandwagon. Which I guess in this case isn’t a bad thing; its nice to be happy in your own skin. And why not, right? All the ladies seem to love it, but I feel like that could be because lots of girls have of low self-esteem issues. Maybe not, but hear me out. Girls are claiming the “better cuddles” and the “good eats” but in all honesty you can find that in any guy, if you’re looking in the right places. “It doesn’t intimidate us. We like being the pretty one.” Does that make it safe to assume that the majority of the time girls are the ugly one in the relationship? I don’t know, I just felt like those were stupid reasons.
I mean okay, I can see where the beer gut is considered cute and loveable, but personally I wouldn’t toss it in with the pros before it would throw it in with cons… if you know what mean.
The sentence I think would relate the closest to the thesis would probably have to be the first two, “Is “dadbod” a hashtag joke or a social-sexual movement? A bit both, probably.” With this sentence I feel I was actually curious about the reading.

The Death of Pretty

First of all, I’d like to say I really liked this article. Pretty surely is dying, and Archbold couldn’t have written how any better. The author’s whole point here is that our society doesn’t value innocence as much as we use to. And I think that’s pretty easily understood while reading, “Nobody wants to be thought of innocent, the good girl. They want to be hot, not pretty.” I agree with this whole concept, women want to be portrayed ass hot and sexy because that’s what most men want. I feel like when I was a girl I wanted to be pretty, like a princess! But now that I’m older, pretty seems venerable to me, and the feminist movement is just too popular now. The only thing I didn’t like about this article was the word choice at the end. Archbold seems certain that being “pretty” doesn’t interest anyone anymore, and I beg to differ. Yes, the idea may be slowly diminishing, but that doesn’t mean its extinct, just harder to find. Which almost makes it a precious thing when you find it, if you’re into that.
