dadbods and death of pretty

The dad bod is nothing new in the world. While finally having a title to it there has always been men whose body type is neither over-weight nor fit but somewhere right in between. And on the other side of things the "death of pretty" talks about how women no longer want to be pretty and innocent, but something that one would consider hot or sexy. Personally I feel like both sides of this is written to the extreme. If a woman wants to be seen as sexy to men then so be it if she wants to be seen as the pretty good girl then so be it. Its a matter of personal choice and I feel as if these articles make it seem wrong to not want to be the pretty girl.

In the "Dadbod" article the sentence I found to be the thesis is "The dad bod says, ‘I go to the gym occasionally, but I also drink heavily on the weekends and enjoy eating eight slices of pizza at a time.’” In "The Death of pretty" I found the thesis to be "young women today do  not seem to aspire to pretty, they prefer to be regarded as hot."
Both these articles to me take things to the extreme. Yes some women and some men aspire to be considered hot or have the dadbod but that's a bit overboard to generally say this is what is going on.

  1. I personally agree with your statement of how that girls should be free to express themselves in however ways they want. If they like the whole innocent, yet beautiful look then so be it, but if they want to be seen as hot and sexy then that's okay as well. Both of these articles were basically written and taken a bit too seriously, the world would be okay still if these were never even written honestly, yet they still evoke thought and argument through themselves.

  2. This was also my first time hearing the term “dadbod”. I agree that it’s nothing new but I found this term really weird. It doesn’t really make sense to me to give the way someone is built a title. I also agree when you said men have always been in between overweight and fit. I feel that women should have their own choice in whether they’re hot or pretty. Personally I don’t even see the difference. I believe that both articles are written extremely as well. I also had found the same thesis in the Death of Pretty article when I read it.
