In the article “Dadbod: A New Word for a Timeless Physique”
written by Spencer Kornhaber I believe that the main idea of this article is
right in the title, but the question is what is “dadbod” I have never heard of
the reference before but after reading the article I had many different opinions.
People are so quick to judge about how awful it is when people give a stereotypes
to girl telling us we need to be skinny but I don’t think it’s any better telling
a man the right thing to do is to eat that extra piece so you have the hot “dadbod”.
Along with all the stereotypes being thrown around the article “The Death of
Pretty” by Pat Archbold isn’t any better. This article is showing that the
meaning of pretty is fading because pretty now means innocent. I don’t agree
with this at all, someone can just be simply pretty or simply hot it’s just a
word and your choice on how you want to use it. Pat is begging girls to become
innocent again and hold that standard of “pretty” but really once again you’re
just putting a title on girls that think they are “hot” rather than “pretty”
Hey Victoria,
ReplyDeleteI agree with your view on Pat Archbold essay. A term is just a term and whether you label a girl pretty/hot means nothing. Yes girls are becoming much older faster these days but there is nothing wrong with becoming a woman. He is judging women based on the way he thinks they should be rather letting them choose their own path. If a woman or even a man chooses to live a certain way with certain ideals than who are we to attack them because she or he does does not want to live their life the way we live ours.
Victoria,
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with your view on the Pat Archbold article. A word is a word. It's like this quote I heard in a Tyler Perry Madea movie, "it's not what people call you, it's what you answer to." The truth of the matter is, he is making a judgment on what its like growing up in today's society as a young woman, something he knows NOTHING about.
Victoria,
ReplyDeleteI find it crazy that you've never heard of the term “dadbod”. But I agree with your opinion on people being quick to judge even if it’s giving guys the okay to get a little pooch. It’s the same as telling a girl to lose weight because all in all you're telling someone what is acceptable. I liked Pat’s view on being pretty versus hot because even though she’s judging.. she's right. Although I do agree that she is just putting a title on girls and trying to portray what should be accepted. Overall I liked your post a lot!
