Flabby or Not?

Every person is attracted to different body types and characteristics. I thought it was interesting reading about the “Dadbod” because I find dads in no way attractive. To me, the thesis is, “In case you haven’t noticed lately, girls are all about that dad bod”. The dad bod is a body of a man that has a beer gut but is also somewhat fit. It’s interesting to think that women have such high standards in society to be thin and gorgeous, while men have the flabby “dadbod”. I don’t think it’s fair for women to talk about men like objects just like we don’t like it when they do it to us. The second essay I agree with because I feel like media and society make women feel like they are not pretty enough. This essays thesis says it all, “Pretty, Pretty is dying”. Women and girls don’t want to be average or pretty, they want to be hot because of what they see in the media. Media is always showing us super skinny celebrities and making us feel like we need to have a body like Kim Kardashian. Both these essays portray the idea of what is considered “hot” at the time.  Although, everyone has a different type I think media and what we hear from other people affects the way we think.

  1. I totally agree with you, why do we have to have another label on people that are "fit but flabby", why can't they just be people?! Women do not like to be labeled by men I don't think we should label men, it goes both ways. I agree with the points you also said about the pretty essay. I do think that it is completely the media's fault for girls not wanting to be pretty anymore, and forcing them to keep up with the media’s idea of hot is. Young girls idolize celebrities that don’t look like the average human being, and have the money to look however they want.
